I have made this dish twice, each time for a women's event. I can tell you from my own perosnal experience, when cooked correctly, this bread pudding can win over just about any one. This recipe is a two part recipe. Give yourself time to read the recipe thoroughly and start on the bread pudding, then the whiskey sauce. Let me know in the comments how it turns out !

Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce Recipe


Bread Pudding: Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Raisins

  • 4 Cups 2% Milk

  • 1 Cup Whipping Cream

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 1/2 Cup sugar

  • 1/2 Cup Pecans, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon Nutmeg

  • 1 (14oz) Stale loaf of French bread

  • 6 Tablespoons butter, cut into pieces.

  • *Set aside extra butter for buttering the baking dish


Bread Pudding: Cooking Directions


  1. Place raisins in a small bowl and cover them in warm water. Soak for 2 hours, then drain.

  2. Preheat oven to 350 F

  3. In a large bowl combine the raisins, milk, cream, eggs, sugar and pecans

  4. Whisk the mixture until well blended.

  5. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.

  6. Break the bread in a bowl and fold in the mixture until it gets soggy.

  7. Butter a 13 X 9- inch baking dish and pour in the bread mixture.

  8. Push butter pieces into the top of the loaf and set the pan in a larger filled with about 1/2 inch of water.

  9. Bake the bread pudding in the water for 30 minutes.

  10. Remove from the water bath and contiue baking for an additional 45 minutes.

  11. While pudding is baking prepare the sauce.



Whiskey Sauce: Ingredients

  • 3 Eggs

  • 1 Cup Sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 2 teaspoon cornstarch

  • 1/4 Cup cold water

  • 1/4 Cup Jack daniels Whiskey (Honey or regular)


Whiskey Sauce: Cooking Directions


Place the eggs in a large saucepan and whisk over meduim heat until slightly thickened.

Add, sugar, vanilla, and milk.

Cook until hot (Do not let mixture boil)

In a small bowl, blend the cornstarch into 1/4 cup cold water.

Stir the cornstarch into the egg mixture. Stir Constantly.

Add the whiskey and cook the sauce over medium heat until smooth and thick enough to coat the back of a spoon (About 15 minutes)

Stir frrequently.

Serve the whiskey sauce either at room temperature, or chill and serve cold. Makes 2 cups.
